Tinikling

Tinikling is the national dance of the Philippines, originating in the Visayan Islands during the Spanish Colonial period. The dance represents rice farmers attempting to trap tikling birds as they try to steal their crops, and the birds are trying to evade the traps. The performance consists of two tappers (the rice farmers) who tap the bamboo poles, and two dancers (the tikling birds). The dance is known for following a three-beat rhythm as the dancers move in and out of the sticks.

Tinikling Modern puts a fun and contemporary twist on the traditional Tinikling style. While using the same choreography, Modern Tinikling follows a faster tempo and uses recent music compared to the usual rondalla ensemble.
